Simon Cowell Talks 1D Future

One Direction could last 20 years if they wanted to, according to Simon Cowell.

The X Factor boss praised the boyband's work ethic and revealed that they have taken some "risks" for their new album

"The album's fantastic," he told Capital FM. "There's probably five or six tracks I've already heard that could be singles.

"There's some very different kinds of songs than what we've done before, they've taken a few more risks. Most importantly, the boys love writing, they love recording."

He added: "I went on Twitter recently to say I don't think they're going to split up, they're having too good a time! I think they could be doing this 5, 10, 20 years if they wanted to."

One Direction have been working with a number of songwriters for their upcoming fourth studio album, including Pharrell Williams, Naughty Boy, Kodaline and The 1975.

The collection would serve as the follow-up to 2013's Midnight Memories, which was the biggest-selling album worldwide last year.

1D’s Richest Members Exposed?

One Direction's Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have been named the highest-earning members of the boyband.

The duo co-wrote almost half of the songs on the group's latest album Midnight Memories, meaning they will receive a larger royalty cut than their fellow bandmates.

Songwriters traditionally receive 9% of each song's royalties, so Payne and Tomlinson will be getting an extra cut of the profits.

Each of their bandmates also has co-writing credits on Midnight Memories, with Harry Styles credited on four of its 14 tracks, Niall Horan on two and Zayn Malik on one song, the album's second single 'Story of My Life'.

"Louis and I have a little partnership going on. We've been pretty keen to start writing straight away," Payne told The Sun.

"I've been in the studio already, it's been going really well. Learning how to write is the best way of ensuring your career has longevity and that you have control over it."

He added: "I really think the next album is going to be a game-changer for us. I'm excited."

One Direction are believed to be worth £100 million as a group, after amassing significant music sales and revenue, a 130-date world tour, merchandise, branded perfume and even their own duct tape.

One Direction Partner With Kodaline

One Direction have teamed up with Kodaline to work on new music.

The boyband's Harry Styles is currently in Los Angeles working on tracks with the Irish band, which are expected to be on the forthcoming 1D album.

One Direction started working on new songs for their fourth studio album earlier this year, due out in late 2014.

It will serve as the follow-up to their 2013 album Midnight Memories, which reached number one in over 19 countries worldwide.

The album has gone on to sell over a million copies in the US alone, while being certified double platinum in the UK with sales of 700,000 plus.

Meanwhile, Kodaline reached number three in the UK with their debut album In A Perfect World last summer, which spawned the hits 'Love Like This', 'High Hopes' and 'All I Want'.
